This site is dedicated mostly to my ongoing exploration and recording of scenes, people and details from cities and countries around the world.
More recently I have been spending considerable time in China and Asia, focusing on documentary and candid photography trying to avoid revealing the darker sides of society. These are opportunities where photography becomes like a mirror that reflects the relationships between people and their natural environment as well as of people and their history and culture. I’ve had the privilege to gain access to more intimate contact with local people and places trying capture the human nature rather than simply recording scenes. I am mostly interested in the vast countryside locations some of which haven’t been tainted by modernisation, yet. Frequently I am confronted with the tough and harsh reality of daily life. My home base is in Shanghai, but I am on a quest to explore most of this incredible country dense with history, traditions as well as issues. It could be said that there are three Chinas; the industrialized cities, the countryside and Shanghai. Each one present tremendous visual opportunities. The following galleries document some of those moments.
Most photographs have been shot using an Arca Swiss F series 4×5 view camera, a Hasselblad ELX 553 a Nikon D2X system and more recently a Leica M8.
